Meeting between President Christodoulides and Tony Blair cancelled
A planned meeting between Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides and former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair was cancelled on Monday due to a flight delay. The meeting was originally scheduled for 4:00 PM in Nicosia. Government sources indicated that the two are likely to communicate by phone instead, as their respective schedules make rescheduling an in-person meeting difficult. Tony Blair is in Cyprus to attend the Gaza Board of Peace summit taking place on June 30 and July 1. This organization, chaired by US President Donald Trump and established by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 in November 2025, focuses on the reconstruction and governance of Gaza. The summit includes representatives from the Board of Peace, the National Committee for the Administration of Gaza, and the office of UN High Representative Nickolay Mladenov. Cyprus is attending as an observer. Foreign Minister Constantinos Kombos clarified that Nicosia is not politically involved in the initiative.
