Cyprus concludes transition to DVB-T2 television broadcasting standard

The Department of Electronic Communications of the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy has announced that June 30, 2026, is the final deadline for the full transition of private television channels to the DVB-T2 standard. Starting from this date, private broadcasters will operate exclusively on frequencies 35 and 48. This technological upgrade aims to provide higher quality audio and video, including HD and 4K support, while utilizing frequency spectrum more efficiently. Viewers are required to perform a manual rescan of their television sets or decoders to maintain access to broadcasts. If a television device does not support the DVB-T2 standard, citizens must acquire a compatible set-top box.
