Cyprus launches selection process for 99th Academy Awards

The Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture of Cyprus has officially opened the selection process for the country's submission to the 99th Academy Awards in the Best International Feature Film category. A seven-member National Selection Committee has been formed and approved by the American Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. The committee includes distinguished professionals Harris Zambarloukos, Kyros Papavasileiou, Gianna Americanou, and Stelana Kliris, alongside institutional representatives Elena Christodoulidou, Lefteris Eleftheriou, and Marios Psaras. Eligible entries must be feature films exceeding 40 minutes in length and function as either Cypriot productions or international co-productions with a majority Cypriot share. Furthermore, more than 50% of the dialogue must be in a language other than English. Entries are also required to have had a commercial theatrical release for at least seven consecutive days. This initiative follows increasing international recognition for Cypriot cinema at various festivals and responds to requests from industry professionals.
