Balconies collapse at a residential building in Limassol

On the evening of Monday, June 29, 2026, two balconies collapsed at a seven-story residential building in Limassol. The incident occurred at the intersection of Petrou Tsirou and Ilissou streets in the Kapsalos area, sometimes referred to as the Tricherousa area. According to Fire Service spokesperson Andreas Kettis, the balconies from the third and fourth floors detached and fell onto a parked vehicle below, causing significant material damage. Authorities reported that there were no injuries, noting that the area was unoccupied at the time. The building was evacuated, and the Civil Defense has undertaken the temporary housing of the residents pending an inspection of the structure. District governor Yiannis Tsouloftas requested an immediate evacuation to ensure safety. The site was secured by the Fire Service and handed over to the Police and the Limassol District Self-Government Organization (EOA) for further investigation into the causes of the collapse.
