Explosion in Monaco injures members of a Ukrainian family
On June 29, 2026, a powerful explosion occurred at the entrance of a building in the Moulins district of Monaco, near the Cuomo Foundation. The blast involved an improvised explosive device containing shrapnel, such as iron bolts and pellets, designed to maximize damage. Three members of a Ukrainian family—an adult man and woman aged 50-60, and an adolescent—were seriously injured and transported to hospitals in Nice and Lenval. While authorities have not officially confirmed the identities, media reports suggest the target was Vadym Yermolaiev, a prominent businessman and owner of the Alef Group, along with his wife and son. Yermolaiev is known for his construction projects in Dnipro and was placed under sanctions by the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council in 2023. A manhunt is currently underway for a suspect captured on security footage who fled toward Beausoleil, France. Police are treating the event as a targeted attack and have cordoned off the area to conduct investigations.
