Explosion in Monaco injures three people

On Monday, June 29, 2026, around 21:00, an explosion occurred at the entrance of a residential building in the Moulins district of Monaco, near the French border. Three members of a Ukrainian family, identified in media reports as businessman Vadym Yermolaiev, his wife, and their 13-year-old son, were seriously injured. The device, which reportedly contained shrapnel to increase damage, was placed by an unidentified suspect captured on surveillance cameras. Following the attack, the victims were transported to hospitals in Nice, France, including the Pasteur Hospital and the Lenval Pediatric Hospital. The suspect reportedly fled on foot into the neighboring French town of Beausoleil. Prince Albert II of Monaco condemned the act as despicable and confirmed that security services are fully mobilized. French and Monegasque authorities are conducting a joint investigation into the motive and identity of the perpetrator, who remains at large. Vadym Yermolaiev is a prominent construction tycoon linked to the Alef Group and was previously sanctioned by Ukrainian authorities in 2023.
