President Christodoulides meets with ExxonMobil and Qatar Energy representatives
President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Christodoulides hosted a delegation from ExxonMobil and Qatar Energy at the Presidential Palace to discuss energy developments in the Cypriot Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). During the meeting, the President described the companies' ongoing activities as a vote of confidence in the potential of the Cypriot EEZ and the Eastern Mediterranean region as a natural gas corridor for Europe. The President confirmed that negotiations for additional maritime blocks are currently underway, with further announcements expected in the near future. ExxonMobil Vice President John Ardill noted that the company has been active in Cyprus since 2017. He acknowledged the successful discovery of two natural gas fields during this period. Ardill emphasized that the current priority for the partnership is the development of these existing discoveries. Both sides characterized the cooperation as highly successful, with the President publicly praising the professionalism and energy sector leadership of the firms involved.
