FAA investigates reported drone collision with JetBlue flight at JFK airport

On Monday, June 29, at approximately 07:15 local time, the pilot of JetBlue flight 948 reported a mid-air collision with a drone while on final approach to John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York. The flight, which arrived from Las Vegas, was at an altitude of approximately 3,000 feet (1,000 meters) during the incident. In radio communications with air traffic control, the pilot stated that the object struck the aircraft just above the cockpit. The plane landed safely, and all passengers disembarked without incident. Following the event, the aircraft was removed from service for a technical inspection.
