Court convicts mother and partner for the murder of a three-year-old child in Heraklion

The Mixed Jury Court of Heraklion has unanimously found a 27-year-old mother and her 44-year-old former partner, Christodoulos, guilty of the intentional murder of her 3-year-old son, Aggelos. The court also convicted them of exposing a minor to danger, causing bodily harm, and illegal possession of weapons, including a wooden club and a shotgun. The 44-year-old defendant was additionally convicted of the illegal collection and recording of personal data, while the biological father of the victim was acquitted of all charges. The prosecutor requested life imprisonment for the main murder charge, along with several additional years for the secondary offenses. During the trial, the prosecution presented findings of 32 injuries on the child's body, indicating systematic abuse occurring over several months. Both defendants denied the accusations throughout the proceedings, claiming they had a good relationship with the child. The court is currently in deliberation to finalize the sentencing for both individuals.
