Cyprus concludes its EU Council presidency with official assessment

President Nikos Christodoulides officially marked the end of the Cypriot presidency of the EU Council at the Filoxenia Conference Centre. He described the period as one of the most substantial and productive in recent years, crediting the success to rigorous preparation and professional collective effort. The ceremony was attended by state officials, volunteers, and key stakeholders. During the event, it was announced that the Deputy Ministry of European Affairs will be maintained to preserve acquired expertise. Additionally, European units within various ministries will remain operational. Deputy Minister for European Affairs Marilena Raouna and Foreign Minister Konstantinos Kombos also addressed the assembly, highlighting the reinforced role of Cyprus within the European Union. President Christodoulides noted that Cyprus demonstrated its capability to lead such a process despite being a small, partially occupied member state.
