European Commission releases 2025 reports on Cyprus Green Line and aid programmes

The European Commission published its 2025 reports regarding the Green Line Regulation and the Aid Programme for the Turkish Cypriot community. Official data shows a record 7.79 million authorized crossings between the two sides of the island. Irregular crossings decreased to 2,433 cases. To manage traffic, the EU funded expansion projects at the Agios Dometios crossing point. A total of €33.7 million was allocated in 2025 to support socioeconomic development, infrastructure projects, and food safety, including emergency measures for a foot-and-mouth disease outbreak in December 2025. Educational initiatives supported 142 Turkish Cypriot university students and 18 students across both communities. Furthermore, 16 grants totaling €2.22 million were awarded to support civil society and trust-building measures.
