Cyprus Consumers Association compares supermarket prices via e-kalathi platform
On June 30, 2026, the Cyprus Consumers Association released a comparative analysis of 20 supermarkets using data from the e-kalathi platform. The retailers were divided into four groups based on product availability to ensure accurate price comparisons. Athainitis supermarket was identified as the cheapest option across all categories. In the first group of five stores with 327 common items, Athainitis was followed by Ioannides, Sklavenitis, Metro, and Alphamega, with price variances ranging up to 6.67%. The second group, comparing stores with 63 common items, found Lidl to be 4.22% more expensive than Athainitis, followed by Sklavenitis, Poplife, and Alphamega. The third group analyzed nine stores with 162 common products, showing MAS group stores like Mikropolis and Mary’s Market to be 3% more expensive, while The Fresh Market showed a price difference of up to 16.6%. The fourth group, focusing on 112 common items, also identified Athainitis as the lowest-priced retailer. This assessment provides transparency for consumers by grouping competitors based on inventory volume.
