Electra Airways flight triggers security alert due to pilot error

On Tuesday, a commercial aircraft operated by Electra Airways, traveling from Warsaw to Tel Aviv with 180 passengers, triggered a hijacking alert. The pilot reportedly activated the emergency signal by mistake, though some reports initially cited a loss of communication. In response to the alert, the Israeli Air Force scrambled fighter jets to escort the plane. The aircraft circled near Cyprus before being diverted. Although the pilot requested to land in Cyprus, the request was denied due to heavy air traffic. Ultimately, the plane was directed to Sofia, Bulgaria, for landing. Israeli military officials confirmed that communication was restored, there was no actual security threat, and the incident was classified as human error.
