Mexico advances to the round of 16 after defeating Ecuador 2-0

Julian Quinones opened the scoring in the 22nd minute following an assist from Alvarado, and Raul Jimenez extended the lead in the 31st minute after a one-two combination with Quinones. Mexico, managed by Javier Aguirre, maintained control throughout the match, while Ecuador struggled to convert their limited opportunities, including a notable effort from Yeboah in the 18th minute. Mexico remains unbeaten in the tournament with four consecutive wins. Orbelin Pineda of AEK Athens entered the match as a substitute in the 80th minute and nearly scored in stoppage time.
