Hiker dies after 150-meter fall in Marica, Brazil

On Sunday, 44-year-old Caio Arabel died after falling 150 meters from a cliff at the Pedra do Macaco trail in Marica, Rio de Janeiro state, Brazil. The victim was part of a group accompanying visitors from Araruama and was reportedly visiting the trail for the first time. Footage captured by a companion shows Arabel standing on a narrow rock formation before he loses his balance while attempting to descend. Despite a warning from a woman in the group, he fell shortly after maneuvering on the ledge. Local authorities were notified at approximately 11:40 a.m., triggering a search and rescue operation. Firefighters and Civil Defense personnel took about four hours to reach the remote location, utilizing ropes and aerial support. The death has been attributed to a fatal accident while hiking and attempting to pose for a photograph.
