Police in Famagusta and Limassol arrest two suspects for separate criminal activities
Cypriot authorities have reported two distinct law enforcement operations resulting in arrests. In the Famagusta district, a 46-year-old man was arrested for his alleged involvement in eleven cases of burglary and theft committed between March and July 1, 2026. The suspect reportedly confessed to nine additional cases after initially being questioned regarding two burglaries. Separately, a 31-year-old man was arrested in the same district following a search of his home, vehicle, and a shipping container, where police discovered a training hand grenade, electronic devices, various power tools, and a small quantity of cannabis. Meanwhile, in an unrelated case in Limassol, a 46-year-old man was remanded for five days regarding a June 26, 2026, home burglary involving the theft of property valued at €45,000. Investigations by the Criminal Investigation Departments (CID) and anti-drug units are ongoing in all cases. All suspects were presented before the relevant district courts to face remand hearings.
