Police arrest 31-year-old in Famagusta following discovery of explosives and contraband

Cypriot police arrested a 31-year-old man yesterday following a court-authorized search of his residence, vehicle, and a shipping container. During the operation, authorities seized a hand grenade, which is initially believed to be an inert training device. In addition to the explosive item, investigators discovered various electronic devices, power tools, and a small quantity of cannabis. The suspect was initially detained for flagrant offenses before a formal arrest warrant was issued for further interrogation. He is scheduled to appear before the Famagusta District Court today for a detention hearing. The Famagusta Criminal Investigation Department and the Drug Law Enforcement Unit are jointly conducting the investigation.
