Cesspool cleaners in Limassol launch indefinite strike causing traffic disruption
Since the morning of Wednesday, July 1, cesspool cleaning companies in the Limassol district have initiated an indefinite strike. Protesters have blocked the emergency lane of the Limassol-Nicosia highway, stretching from the Linopetra area to the Germasogeia roundabout. The industrial action has resulted in significant traffic congestion and long queues of vehicles. The primary reason cited for the protest is the lack of adequate facilities for disposing of sewage. Participants also noted that the strike is a response to long-standing, chronic operational problems. Police units are currently present at the scene to manage the situation and address the traffic issues. Authorities have warned of heavy traffic in the affected area, urging motorists to exercise caution.
