Arson attacks target New Democracy officials in Thessaloniki
On Wednesday morning, three coordinated arson attacks involving gas canisters targeted the residences of New Democracy officials in Thessaloniki. Unknown perpetrators on motorcycles carried out the attacks in the Pylaia, Toumba, and Charilaou districts between 04:18 and 04:35. The targets included the homes of New Democracy Thessaloniki Committee President Zisis Ioakeimovits, former MP Savvas Anastasiadis, and politician Afroditi Nestora. The most significant incident occurred in Charilaou, where a fire damaged two cars and two motorcycles. Five people were hospitalized following this explosion, including Afroditi Nestora, who suffered minor burns, and her mother, who remains intubated with serious injuries. Conflicting reports exist regarding the exact number of severely injured individuals, with some sources citing two people in serious condition and others focusing on the mother’s critical status. Police investigations are currently underway to identify the perpetrators.
