Coordinated arson attacks target New Democracy officials in Thessaloniki
Between 04:18 and 04:35 on the morning of the attack, three incendiary devices using gas canisters were detonated at locations associated with New Democracy party officials in Thessaloniki. The first incident occurred in Pylaia at the residence of Zisis Ioakeimovits, president of the Thessaloniki New Democracy Committee, causing no injuries. A second device was ignited at an apartment building in Toumba where former MP Savvas Anastasiadis resides, resulting in minor structural damage to the entrance. The third and most severe attack took place in Charilaou, targeting a building where party candidate Afroditi Nestora lives. This explosion caused significant material damage to two cars and two motorcycles, and forced residents to evacuate. Five people, including Nestora and a family member, were injured while attempting to exit the building. While initial reports indicated two people suffered serious injuries, subsequent updates noted one woman remains intubated in the hospital due to severe burns. Authorities are currently investigating the coordinated nature of these incidents.
