Goethe-Institut Nicosia hosts annual Sommerkino film series
The Goethe-Institut in Nicosia is hosting its seventh consecutive Sommerkino film series from July 6 to July 10, 2026. This year's event, themed 'Between Waves', features German films screened in the institute's garden with the Ledra Palace Hotel as a backdrop. The program focuses on water as a central theme, exploring its roles as a natural force, a border, or a sanctuary. The series kicks off on July 6 with '22 Lengths', directed by Mia Maariel Meyer and based on Caroline Wahl's novel. On July 7, the film 'Skin Deep' by Alex Schaad, featuring actors Mala Emde and Jonas Dassler, will be screened. The series continues on July 8 with 'Beyond the Blue Border', directed by Sarah Neumann, which depicts an escape across the Baltic Sea during the Cold War. While sources provide slightly varying descriptions of the program's thematic depth, both confirm the film lineup and venue details. Attendees will be provided with lounge chairs for the open-air screenings.
