Woman dies following alligator attack in Florida

On June 28, a 31-year-old woman named Brittany Clark was fatally attacked by an alligator while swimming in the Econlockhatchee River within the Little Big Econ State Forest in Florida. Clark and her partner, Chance Allison, were hiking when they stopped to swim in shallow water. A 3.7-meter-long alligator surfaced and attacked Clark, biting both of her arms. Allison attempted to intervene and fought the animal, managing to briefly pull her free, but the alligator attacked again. Allison called 911 for emergency assistance. Clark succumbed to her severe injuries while being transported to a hospital. Officials from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirmed the details of the incident.
