Deputy Ministry of Culture announces new programs and legislative updates

Deputy Minister of Culture Lina Kassianidou briefed the Parliamentary Committee on Education and Culture regarding several upcoming initiatives. The Deputy Ministry plans to launch the 'Nostos' grant program by the end of the week, which aims to document and preserve the local memory of occupied communities. The program is open to occupied communities, refugee associations, cultural organizations, and individuals. Additionally, a management agreement for the Lempa Cultural Village is scheduled for signing on July 9, aimed at establishing it as a center for artists, educational programs, and cultural activities. Kassianidou also provided an update on the proposed Artist Status bill, noting that consultations with artists' organizations and the Ministry of Labor are ongoing. The legislative framework is being reviewed to better address social security issues for cultural workers. These initiatives reflect the ministry's current planning priorities for the coming period.
