New Movement of Dance Groups releases hypothetical call for Cyprus Choreography Platform 2026
The New Movement of Dance Groups, Dancers and Choreographers of Cyprus has published a hypothetical open call for the 2026 Cyprus Choreography Platform. The initiative is a symbolic protest against the Deputy Ministry of Culture's failure to announce the official program, which is significantly delayed compared to previous years when calls were released in May. By the end of June, neither the Choreography Platform nor the Terpsichore program, which are essential for the contemporary dance community, have been officially launched. The organization emphasized that its document is not an official government directive but a protest action aimed at highlighting the need for transparent planning, consistent communication, and a clear cultural strategy. The group argues that the absence of a defined framework hinders professional development and ecosystem stability for local artists. While the initiative mimics the formal structure of official ministry documents, it replaces administrative clauses with demands for better government accountability and meaningful consultation. The movement states that these demands are intended to serve as a realistic basis for future dialogue with state authorities.
