Omonoia FC transfer embargo lifted by the Cyprus Football Association
The Cyprus Football Association (KOP) has officially lifted the transfer embargo imposed on Omonoia FC following a dispute with former employee Jesper Jansson. The club secured the removal of the ban by providing a bank guarantee for the disputed amount previously ruled by the Dispute Resolution Committee. The original ruling ordered Omonoia to pay 300,310 euros, including 15,000 euros in unpaid wages, 283,000 euros for premature contract termination, and 2,310 euros in legal fees. While the embargo is lifted, the case remains under review at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS). A final decision from CAS is expected within approximately three months. This ruling will ultimately determine the final compensation amount owed to Jansson. Following the lifting of these restrictions, Omonoia is now permitted to proceed with new player registrations and transfers.
