Cyprus retail trade data for May 2026

In May 2026, the Cyprus retail trade turnover value index increased by 9.8% year-on-year, while the volume index rose by 7.5%. For the five-month period from January to May 2026, the value index grew by 7.1% and the volume index by 5.9% compared to the same period in 2025. In terms of value, the largest increases were recorded in automotive fuel at 20.9%, other household equipment at 12%, and educational/recreational goods at 10.1%. Regarding volume, the highest growth occurred in clothing and footwear (19.4%), information and communication equipment (17.6%), and other household equipment (13.3%). Conversely, volume declines were noted in automotive fuel by 3.8% and in the category of flowers, plants, jewelry, and watches by 2.1%.
