Cyprus launches new digital tool to identify government benefits
The Cypriot Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy has launched a new online tool titled 'Find Benefits You May Be Entitled To' on the gov.cy portal. The service allows citizens to identify potential eligibility for government assistance by answering questions regarding employment, studies, family status, household income, assets, disability, and health. Currently, the platform covers 45 different schemes, including social insurance, student grants, and rent subsidies for displaced persons. Officials emphasized that the results provided by the tool are purely indicative and based on user-entered information, with final eligibility determined by relevant authorities. Additionally, as of June 30, 2026, the government introduced a mandatory online application process for paternity benefits via gov.cy. Paper applications for paternity benefits will no longer be accepted after July 6, 2026, except for individuals unable to create a CY Login account. The initiative is part of a broader digital upgrade of social services supported by the Recovery and Resilience Plan.
