Nicosia municipality to transition to fully electronic billing by 2027

The Nicosia municipality has announced it will stop issuing paper invoices starting January 1, 2027, moving to a fully digital system for all municipal charges. This transition affects residents in the Nicosia, Engomi, and Ayios Dhometios districts, who have already received their 2026 paper rubbish collection invoices. To ensure receipt of future electronic notices, residents must register each property separately using the unique QR code found on their 2026 invoice. Payments for current charges can be completed online, at citizen service offices via card, or at the central municipal treasury via cash or card. Objections regarding discount criteria must be submitted with supporting documentation by July 31, 2026, via email or in person. The municipality warned that incomplete or late submissions will not be processed. Additionally, a 10 per cent surcharge will be applied to all late payments as per existing legislation.
