Canada to participate in Eurovision 2027
On Wednesday, July 1, the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) announced that Canada will participate in the 71st Eurovision Song Contest. This follows the decision by CBC/Radio-Canada to become a full member of the EBU. Canada is the first new country to join the competition since Australia in 2015. The Canadian broadcaster will outline the selection process for its entry later this year. The 2027 contest is scheduled to take place in Bulgaria, which earned hosting rights after winning the 2026 event. While participation is typically linked to European geography, EBU membership allows for entries from nations outside the continent. This decision marks the first time a North American country will compete in the music event.
