ELAM party opposes migrant facility in Lykavitos area of Nicosia

The National Popular Front (ELAM) has officially expressed its opposition to plans for a migrant hosting facility in the Lykavitos area of Nicosia. The party cites security concerns, specifically noting the proximity of the proposed site to a local primary school. ELAM maintains a policy against establishing either open or closed migrant housing within residential zones. The party previously voted against the proposal during a session of the Nicosia Municipality committee. Additionally, an ELAM delegation attended a public meeting organized by local residents to protest the project. The party advocates for the relocation of such facilities to areas outside of urban centers until deportation procedures are completed. ELAM has called on the relevant authorities to withdraw the current proposal immediately.
