Ministry of Labour to present pension reform bill in July

Minister of Labour and Social Insurance Marinos Mousiouttas announced that the pension reform bill will be submitted to social partners during the second ten days of July. This deadline was delayed from an initial July parliamentary submission to September to allow for further dialogue. The Minister expressed hope that all points will be agreed upon by September, following discussions with the Nicosia Chamber of Commerce and Industry. If consensus is not reached by then, the bill will proceed to Parliament in its existing form. Mousiouttas emphasized the need to find common ground during the two-and-a-half-month preparation period. He suggested that informal working dinners and summer meetings could be used to facilitate discussions despite the holiday season. The government remains committed to moving forward with the reform as quickly as possible.
