Democratic Rally celebrates its 50th anniversary
The Democratic Rally (DISY) celebrated its 50th anniversary during an event held at the old GSP stadium in Nicosia. Party president Annita Demetriou addressed the attendees, emphasizing the party's commitment to independent policy-making and its adherence to the founding principles established by Glafcos Clerides. Demetriou also criticized the AKEL party regarding its stance on state institutions and the judiciary. Former President Nicos Anastasiades did not attend the celebration. The event featured messages from European People's Party President Manfred Weber and Greek Minister of Education Sofia Zacharaki, who represented Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Leaders of various affiliated organizations, including NEDISY and GODISY, also sent greetings. The anniversary served as a platform for DISY to reaffirm its historical role in Cyprus since 1976 and focus on its future political identity.
