Democratic Rally party marks its 50th anniversary in Nicosia

The Democratic Rally (DISY) party held a commemorative event at the old GSP stadium in Nicosia to mark its 50th anniversary. Party leader Annita Demetriou addressed the event, emphasizing that the party remains independent in its political decisions and criticizing the stance of the AKEL party regarding institutions. Greetings were delivered by European People's Party President Manfred Weber and Greek Minister of Education Sophia Zacharaki, representing Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Former President Nicos Anastasiades was absent from the event, which was noted in local reports. The gathering also served as a moment for internal party dynamics, with Averof Neofytou engaging actively with supporters. The event celebrated the legacy of founder Glafcos Clerides and the party's role in Cypriot history since 1976. The party leadership reaffirmed its commitment to the core values established at its founding.
