MountMed Institute launches regeneration program for fire-affected Troodos communities

The MountMed Institute has launched the Integrated Regeneration Programme for the Mountain Communities of Troodos to support areas affected by the 2025 wildfires in the Limassol region. This initiative is backed by a one-million-euro donation from The Coca-Cola HBC Foundation, which was originally announced in November 2025. The project marks a transition from the initial assessment phase to active, on-the-ground implementation. The scientific foundation for this action plan was developed by the MountMed Institute with support from the A. G. Leventis Foundation. This research evaluated the ecological, social, and economic impacts of the fires while outlining long-term strategies for recovery. The final plan consists of seven strategic intervention pillars, encompassing 20 interventions and 56 individual actions. The scope of the work includes ecological restoration, land management, the stimulation of local productivity, and the preservation of cultural identity within the mountain communities. The program aims to establish a framework for ongoing monitoring and institutional accountability.
