63-year-old man arrested for drug possession in Zygi

On Wednesday afternoon, Cypriot police officers from the drug squad stopped a 63-year-old man driving on the Zygi-Mari road. During the initial vehicle search, officers discovered approximately 500 grams of cannabis, leading to the suspect's immediate arrest. A subsequent search of agricultural land and premises controlled by the man in the Zygi area revealed an additional 1.5 kilograms of cannabis hidden inside a metal dog cage. Upon receiving the suspect's written consent, authorities also searched his residence, where they seized 339 shotgun cartridges. Furthermore, police confiscated two mobile phones and 743 euros in cash to determine if the money constitutes proceeds from illegal activities. The Larnaca branch of the drug squad is currently conducting further forensic examinations and investigations into the case.
