Drug trafficking crackdowns in Cyprus lead to multiple arrests

The Cyprus Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) conducted targeted operations in the districts of Larnaca and Limassol. In Zigi, a 63-year-old man was remanded in custody for seven days after police discovered approximately two kilograms of cannabis in his vehicle and premises, along with 339 shotgun cartridges, two mobile phones, and 743 euros. Separately, in Limassol, a 22-year-old and a 28-year-old were arrested for drug possession with intent to supply after police observed an exchange of a bag containing 23 grams of cocaine and 140 grams of cannabis, while an additional 45 grams of cocaine were found in the area. In a related operation in Larnaca, another 28-year-old was detained following the discovery of 19,960 euros and various substances, including cannabis, resins, and unknown chemicals, at his residence. Authorities are currently investigating all cases to determine the origin of the illicit materials and funds. The suspects are facing various drug-related charges as the investigations continue.
