Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis presents redevelopment plans for Karaiskakis Stadium
On Thursday, July 2, Olympiacos owner Evangelos Marinakis held a press conference at the Piraeus Municipal Theatre to unveil redevelopment plans for the Karaiskakis Stadium. The proposed project aims to modernize the facility, increasing its capacity to 53,000 spectators, which would make it the second-largest stadium in Greece. The construction is estimated to cost at least 250 million euros, which Marinakis stated will be funded entirely through private resources of the football club, without state budgetary support. To proceed, the project requires urban planning approvals, specifically a permit to increase the building height limit from 40 to 52 meters. While the venue project is the primary focus, the club is simultaneously managing personnel changes, with Antonio Miguel Cardoso assisting in recruitment and transfer negotiations involving players such as Joel Roca, Petar Stanic, and Domingos Duarte. The club's management, including coach Jose Luis Mendilibar and Darko Kovacevic, continues to work on the upcoming season's squad design. The redevelopment aims to transform the site into a modern sports facility compliant with high technological standards.
