Sixteen children rescued from unsafe living conditions in Ohio
On Tuesday, authorities executed a search warrant at a home in Hamden, Vinton County, Ohio, discovering 16 children living in unsanitary and unsafe conditions for four years. Four family members—Gary Snider (73), Christina Snider (67), Gary Snider II (36), and Elizabeth Snider (33)—have been charged with 16 felony counts of child endangering. Prosecutors stated that the suspects are the children's grandparents and parents, clarifying that this is an internal family matter rather than human trafficking. The children, aged between 18 months and 18 years, were found in a cramped space filled with waste. Ohio Attorney General Andy Wilson noted that the children were likely 24 hours away from potential fatalities. Seven children were hospitalized, including two transported by helicopter, with one child currently in critical condition. All four suspects pleaded not guilty, and their bond was set at $300,000 each.
