Developments in Cyprus negotiations anticipated for July

Turkish Cypriot politician Tufan Erhurman stated that increased diplomatic activity regarding the Cyprus issue is expected starting in July. This timeline aligns with the conclusion of legislative elections and the end of the Cypriot Presidency of the Council of the European Union. Erhurman clarified that no formal comprehensive plan currently exists, noting that only preliminary ideas are being discussed. He emphasized that the Turkish Cypriot side supports the efforts of UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and aims to remain calm and focused. Furthermore, Erhurman reported informing political parties, labor unions, youth organizations, and business associations about these developments. Meanwhile, former leader Ersin Tatar expressed dissatisfaction with statements made by the UN Secretary-General's personal envoy, Maria Angela Holguin. Additionally, the speaker of the local parliament in the north, Ziya Ozturkler, alleged that the Greek Cypriot side is initiating movements concerning territorial matters. The Turkish Cypriot leadership maintained that they will not participate in provocations from any side.
