Real Madrid parts ways with Sergio Scariolo and hires Pedro Martinez

Real Madrid has officially announced the mutual termination of its contract with basketball coach Sergio Scariolo. Despite guiding the team to the Euroleague final, Scariolo finished the season without securing a title. The club has already finalized a replacement, appointing Pedro Martinez as the new head coach. Martinez joins the team from Valencia on a three-year contract. To facilitate this move, Real Madrid paid a one-million-euro release clause to Valencia. The transition carries a significant financial impact, with the club owing approximately 4 million euros for the remaining two years of Scariolo's contract. Including the buyout fee and the new contract for Martinez, the total cost for the coaching change is estimated at 7 million euros for the current season.
