Road works on Limassol coastal road cause significant traffic delays
Road construction work on the coastal road in Limassol has led to severe traffic congestion, causing significant commute delays for residents. Christos Papamichael, Deputy Mayor of Germasogeia, stated that the work is being carried out as part of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan. The official noted that morning peak hours are heavily affected, with drivers reporting that a two-kilometer stretch can take up to two hours to traverse. Reports indicate that EMEL bus line 30 has also experienced delays due to the ongoing project. Papamichael criticized the scheduling of the work, noting that construction often begins around 7:00 AM during the busiest commuting period. The Municipality of Germasogeia has received multiple complaints from citizens regarding the implementation of the project by contractors under the Public Works department. The Deputy Mayor has called for better planning to mitigate the impact on the city's traffic flow.
