Greece eliminated from U18 Water Polo World Championship quarterfinals

The Greek U18 national water polo team was eliminated from the World Championship in Rio Maior, Portugal, after a 10-8 quarterfinal loss to Montenegro. Montenegro established a 5-1 lead early on, but Greece responded with a 3-0 run to close the gap before halftime. Despite narrowing the score to 7-6 and 8-7 during the match, Greece struggled offensively in the final period, scoring only once. The quarter scores were 4-1, 2-3, 2-3, and 2-1. Prior to this match, Greece had qualified for the quarterfinals following a 30-8 victory over China. Under coach Giorgos Chatzidakis, the team will now compete for 5th to 8th place on July 3 at 17:00. Their next opponent will be the loser of the USA versus Hungary match.
