Cyprus police helicopter base established at presidential palace in Nicosia
On the morning of July 2, a Cyprus Police helicopter named Achilleas conducted its first test flight from a new helipad located on the grounds of the Presidential Palace in Nicosia. The facility was established by converting an existing parking area near the press center. The primary objective of this relocation is to enhance the operational efficiency and response capabilities of the police aviation wing. During the inaugural session, the flight crew and members of the presidential guard carried out a five-minute flight over the area. This mission allowed the teams to familiarize themselves with the surrounding urban infrastructure and test landing procedures in a confined space. No security incidents were reported during the operation. The site is intended to improve rapid security response times for state officials.
