Olympiacos announces the signing of goalkeeper Balsa Popovic
Olympiacos FC officially announced the acquisition of 26-year-old Montenegrin goalkeeper Balsa Popovic from Red Star Belgrade. Popovic was born on June 10, 2000, and spent the previous season on loan at OFK Beograd, where he made 34 appearances. The player has accumulated 105 total appearances for OFK Beograd and has previously played for OFK Grbalj, Kolubara, Arsenal Tivat, and FK Gorstak. He is expected to serve as the backup to Konstantinos Tzolakis, replacing Alexandros Paschalakis. While the club's official announcement confirms the transfer, conflicting media reports suggest the player encountered issues during his medical examinations. Some reports indicate he may have a minor injury that could sideline him for a month, leading to internal reassessments by the club management. The concern regarding the player's medical status is heightened by rumors of potential high-value transfer offers for Tzolakis. Olympiacos has not disclosed the duration of the contract signed with Popovic.
