Lawyer demands appointment of Anna Aristotelous to general director position
On July 2, 2026, lawyer Christos M. Triantafyllides sent a letter to the Council of Ministers demanding the immediate appointment of Anna Aristotelous to the organic position of General Director, effective retrospectively from December 1, 2025. This request follows a June 17, 2026, Administrative Court ruling that annulled her suspension, which had been in effect since December 5, 2025. Aristotelous had accepted the appointment as General Director on December 1, 2025, but has not yet been placed in the organic position required to perform her official duties. Triantafyllides asserts that the Council of Ministers must fulfill this administrative requirement in light of the court's decision. Conversely, the Council of Ministers held an extraordinary meeting on June 22, 2026, where it decided to recommend that the Public Service Commission (PSC) place Aristotelous under suspension once again. The situation remains a point of contention between the legal representation of the official and the government's executive body.
