Whale washes ashore in Vouno
A whale has washed ashore on the coast of Vouno, a village located in the northern part of Cyprus. According to reports from the Turkish Cypriot newspaper Kibris Gazetesi, the carcass will be transported to the Taskent Nature Park for a post-mortem examination. Experts emphasize that such incidents serve as critical indicators of potential distress within the marine ecosystem. Scientists are investigating the cause of death, citing various potential factors such as diseases, marine pollution, and collisions with ships. Other contributing elements could include abandoned fishing nets, excessive underwater noise, and the broader impacts of climate change. A formal scientific investigation is underway to determine the precise cause of this specific incident. This occurrence is noted as one of several recent cases where whales have been found stranded on the island's coastline.
