Orthodox services resume at Apostolos Andreas monastery in Rizokarpaso

Orthodox religious services are set to resume at the Apostolos Andreas monastery in the Karpass peninsula on Sunday, July 5. The site had experienced a suspension of services for over two months. According to an official statement from the Office of the Presidential Commissioner of the Republic of Cyprus, the resumption follows a personal intervention by President Nikos Christodoulides with the Turkish Cypriot side. Services at the monastery are traditionally held on the first Sunday of each month. The government of the Republic of Cyprus emphasized that the unhindered exercise of religious rights and access to places of worship remain key priorities. The monastery, a significant historical and religious site, dates back in its current form to the 18th and 19th centuries and has undergone extensive restoration in recent years.
