Greek parliamentary speaker meets with Cyprus displaced communities committee
The speaker of the Greek Parliament, Konstantinos Tasoulas, held a meeting at the Presidential Mansion with a delegation representing the Committee of Occupied Communities of Cyprus. The delegation included Michail Tziortas, Eleftherios Antoniou, Andreas Athanasiou, and Eleni Zarou Patsikkou, accompanied by Cyprus Ambassador to Greece, Stavros Avgoustidis. Members of the committee discussed the rights of refugees to return to their ancestral homes and reported on the challenges faced in occupied territories and their efforts to engage the younger generation. Tasoulas expressed solidarity with the displaced persons affected by the Turkish invasion. He reiterated that the resolution of the Cyprus issue remains a top priority for Greek foreign policy. The speaker affirmed the commitment of the Greek state to finding a fair solution in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and European Union law. Separately, Turkish official Hakan Fidan claimed that the Greek-Cypriot side is obstructing regional cooperation efforts.
