Unauthorized construction of boat ramp by amateur fishermen in Limassol

On July 3, 2026, authorities in Limassol began an investigation into the illegal construction of a boat ramp on the beach near the Tsiflikoudia area. Amateur fishermen, reportedly members of the Limassol Amateur Fishing Boat Owners Association (SISEAL), used machinery to clear rocks and vegetation before pouring approximately three cubic meters of concrete onto the sand. The incident occurred on a Wednesday evening near the new port and the SODAP area. The participants documented the construction process in a video posted on social media, where they also expressed plans for further enhancements including the installation of metal grates. The Limassol District Administration reported the unauthorized activity to the Police after an inspection by the Beach Inspector. Currently, the local authorities, including the District Administration and the EOA, are coordinating to determine responsibility for the removal of the structure and the restoration of the beach. The investigation remains ongoing.
