Cyprus Armed Forces basketball team finishes 7th at 54th World Military Basketball Championship
The Cyprus Armed Forces basketball team concluded its participation in the 54th World Military Basketball Championship in 7th place after defeating Germany 86-79 in the final classification match. Coached by Antonis Asiakallis, the team successfully navigated the group stage with a 66-53 victory over Bangladesh, despite a 96-57 loss to Brazil. After advancing to the quarterfinals, Cyprus faced the host nation, France, and was defeated 79-47. France, which remained undefeated in the group stage with wins against Latvia and the Netherlands, ultimately proved to be a superior opponent. The Cypriot team, however, managed to recover in their final game to secure the 7th place finish. The tournament served as a high-level competitive experience against strong international military teams. This result marks the conclusion of Cyprus's campaign in this tournament, which was held in France.
